We missed posting our currently reading segment last week – Emily was overseas in Vietnam and Tanaya was just super busy and forgot… oops! This is going to be slightly longer than usual because we have both read quite a bit in the last fortnight.

I’m on holiday so there is A LOT of reading happening! Woohoo – I might finally get on top of my Goodreads goal! Before I left, I started listening to the audio version of The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton. Since returning on Monday, I have continued and I am really really enjoying it! I had a little bit of a slump, but I still managed to read quite a lot this week! I finished Children of Blood and Bone, which had a crazy intense ending that I am still kind of reeling from…. I then jumped into Force of Nature by Jane Harper. I wasn’t sure how much I’d like it, but I really enjoyed sinking into the story! Even though crime isn’t my favourite genre, I really like Jane Harper’s books. There was a lot of whodunnit leads, a lot of climactic moments, and some really fascinating, angry, female characters. I already can’t wait for the next Aaron Falk mystery! Continue reading “Currently Reading”

This week my reading has been pretty abysmal. Part of this is from what I have been reading, but mostly it’s because I may have gotten a tad addicted to The Office

Since the last post, I continued to read more of The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray. I’m currently on page 320, and will have to return to it in the next couple of days. I was enjoying it, but I had to read some books for work, and so I put it to the side for a little bit. I am trying to get out of the habit of having multiple books going at once, and I will definitely be returning to this once I have finished my current (and final) read for work. In the last week I’ve had an okay reading week. I’ve managed to finish three books and start a fourth.

First up I read White Night by Ellie Marney. Although I found the characters a little bland (and only because I compared them to Ellie Marney’s Every series that seriously has the best characters ever) I loved everything else about this novel. It’s very Australian, but well written and definitely a recommendation for those of you who like coming-of-age stories. Continue reading “Currently Reading”

I’m finally back on top in my reading game! I read The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, a beautifully written story about a young woman coming to terms with the trauma that has overshadowed her family for generations. It’s coming in April, and the cover is amazing! It had been quite hyped to me (and I don’t always enjoy hyped books) but I was pleasantly surprised to find that I really liked it and wanted to keep turning the pages. Next up was The Song of Achilles! I am a tragic for the Greek myths and LOVED this representation of the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus. Get yourselves a copy stat! SO GOOD! Since the last currently reading post, I’ve managed to finish three books an get halfway through a fourth. I finished our bookclub pick of Happiness for Humans by P.Z. Reizin which I enjoyed but didn’t love; I completed Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia which I LOVED so so so so much; and I got through A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro which was completely different to what I thought it would be and not really my cup of tea. What We’re Currently Reading

Tanaya

After reading a book a day for most of last week, I’m a little sad that my reading pace has slowed down in this second week of January. I’m currently reading a January release called Happiness for Humans by P.Z. Reizin. It’s a romcom kind of book about two AIs who are meddling in the love lives of two humans. I’ts cute, it’s funny, it’s a light and easy read, and I have about half the book to go. The reason I am reading this is for the bookclub that Emily and I are in, meaning that I have to have it finished before we meet to discuss the book tomorrow.
