Fight Like a Girl!

Sometimes I get a bit angry at the state of the world. Sometimes, it can be hard to see discrimination against women and not know how to handle it. Sometimes, we have to turn to books to inspire us.

Things A Bright Girl Can Do by Sally Nichols is a book that celebrates the suffrage movement in England. This year marks the 100th anniversary of women being given the vote in that country. I really, really enjoyed this book. It is a wonderful take on the ways in which three very different women tried to find their place in the world. Continue reading “Fight Like a Girl!”

Currently Reading


In the last week I’ve had an okay reading week. I’ve managed to finish three books and start a fourth.

First up I read White Night by Ellie Marney. Although I found the characters a little bland (and only because I compared them to Ellie Marney’s Every series that seriously has the best characters ever) I loved everything else about this novel. It’s very Australian, but well written and definitely a recommendation for those of you who like coming-of-age stories. Continue reading “Currently Reading”
