Not a terrible reading week, but I didn’t get as much done over the Easter long weekend as I would have liked to. Still, I can’t complain about eight books being ticket off the TBR!

FOUR non-fiction titles this week! Inferior by Angela Saini is about the scientific studies into the differences between men and women, and the scientific justifications used (often falsely) to depict women as inferior to men. It was written very conversationally, but still intelligently. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to see Saini speak at the Sydney Writer’s Festival! 🙂 Iris Apfel: Accidental Icon was a complete delight, as I would imagine Iris herself is. It was bright, colourful, sweet and fun. I want to be more like Iris! Continue reading “Currently Reading”

This past fortnight hasn’t been my best for reading. I’ve managed to finish four books and am currently 30 pages towards the end of a fifth book.

I finally finished Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston. I was so incredibly disappointed in this book. I loved her previous book, Geekerella, but Heart of Iron failed to be as charming to me. This kind of put me in a bit of a slump and is the reasoning behind why I read so little. Continue reading “Currently Reading”

We missed posting our currently reading segment last week – Emily was overseas in Vietnam and Tanaya was just super busy and forgot… oops! This is going to be slightly longer than usual because we have both read quite a bit in the last fortnight.

I’m on holiday so there is A LOT of reading happening! Woohoo – I might finally get on top of my Goodreads goal! Before I left, I started listening to the audio version of The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton. Since returning on Monday, I have continued and I am really really enjoying it! Last week I had mentioned how I had hoped to read six book in the following week… I definitely did not manage to achieve this (oops!). I did manage to finish three books, one audiobook, and get 200 pages into another book, but for the most part I was binge watching The Office again.

First up, I finished Autoboyography by Christina Lauren. For most of the book I was really loving it, and thinking it would be an easy five star read. Continue reading “Currently Reading”

This week has been a lacklustre reading week, but I have been listening to the MOST incredible audio books! Sleeping Giants and Waking Gods are the science fiction books you need in your life. They are about a group of scientists trying to figure out the mechanics of a giant robot, the pieces of which they have found scattered around the globe. The books are incredibly intense and just AMAZING! Highly recommend. Get your hands on them IMMEDIATELY! Continue reading “Currently Reading”

I had a little bit of a slump, but I still managed to read quite a lot this week! I finished Children of Blood and Bone, which had a crazy intense ending that I am still kind of reeling from…. I then jumped into Force of Nature by Jane Harper. I wasn’t sure how much I’d like it, but I really enjoyed sinking into the story! Even though crime isn’t my favourite genre, I really like Jane Harper’s books. There was a lot of whodunnit leads, a lot of climactic moments, and some really fascinating, angry, female characters. I already can’t wait for the next Aaron Falk mystery! Continue reading “Currently Reading”

This week my reading has been pretty abysmal. Part of this is from what I have been reading, but mostly it’s because I may have gotten a tad addicted to The Office

Since the last post, I continued to read more of The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray. I’m currently on page 320, and will have to return to it in the next couple of days. I was enjoying it, but I had to read some books for work, and so I put it to the side for a little bit. I am trying to get out of the habit of having multiple books going at once, and I will definitely be returning to this once I have finished my current (and final) read for work.
