Reading Habits, Top Ten Tuesday!

Top Ten Tuesday – Bookish Resolutions/Goals

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week they provide a topic, and you choose ten book related things to answer the topic.

Tanaya and I already did a blog post on our 2018 reading resolutions! Take a look over here. But I also thought we could take a little look at how we have been doing in regards to these resolutions over the past two weeks!

Tanaya is definitely doing better than I am. She has read two 2015 reads already, she hasn’t taken a single reading copy from work, and she is currently reading the last book in a series. She wants to work on writing her reviews within three days of finishing a book, as she has realised she’s falling behind there!

I, meanwhile, have been successful in curbing the buying. I have not bought a single book yet this year. By limiting myself to two a month, I am panicking about the choices and it has resulted in no purchases yet at all! I have read The Silkworm, but am yet to start Career of Evil. I have failed a little in my intention to read all of the Jane Austen novels – my book club suggested Persuasion and I almost cried in horror. I haven’t done any rereading, but it is still very early in the year. And although I want to reduce the TBR to 50, I am not reading particularly quickly this year…

I’ve also been thinking that I’d like to introduce a new resolution – I’d like to track my reading habits more closely, in an Excel spreadsheet, so that I can make interesting graphs at the end of each month and the year. I am interested in tracking how many female vs. male writers I read, how many Australian vs. international authors, and what formats I read in (this will obviously be mostly physical books, but I’m getting into audio again).

What are your resolutions? Do you ever change them during the year?
