In the last week I’ve had an okay reading week. I’ve managed to finish three books and start a fourth.

First up I read White Night by Ellie Marney. Although I found the characters a little bland (and only because I compared them to Ellie Marney’s Every series that seriously has the best characters ever) I loved everything else about this novel. It’s very Australian, but well written and definitely a recommendation for those of you who like coming-of-age stories. Continue reading “Currently Reading”

Top Ten Tuesday: Books We Can’t Believe We’ve Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week she provides a topic, and you choose ten book related things to answer the topic.

Emily:

1. Breaking Dawn – Stephanie Meyer

I knew by book three that the series was crap, and yet I still fangirled. And then felt so let down. I KNEW I would be let down; why did I persevere?

2. Hush, Hush – Becca Fitzpatrick Continue reading “Top Ten Tuesday: Books We Can’t Believe We’ve Read”

I’m finally back on top in my reading game! I read The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, a beautifully written story about a young woman coming to terms with the trauma that has overshadowed her family for generations. It’s coming in April, and the cover is amazing! It had been quite hyped to me (and I don’t always enjoy hyped books) but I was pleasantly surprised to find that I really liked it and wanted to keep turning the pages. Next up was The Song of Achilles! I am a tragic for the Greek myths and LOVED this representation of the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus. Get yourselves a copy stat! SO GOOD! Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Books We Really Liked But Can’t Remember Much About

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week she provides a topic, and you choose ten book related things to answer the topic.

I found it very difficult to limit myself to just five books! I struggle to remember most things and could do with a reread of A LOT. However, I also want to read all of the new books coming out every day – not enough time to do all the reading I want to do!

1. The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson

Sooooo, I have a ton of friends insisting I hurry up and read the newest book in The Stormlight Archive, Oathbringer. Only…. I can’t remember anything (except maybe two plot points) about the first two books! I did love them and devour them, but the books are so big I’ve been putting off my reread….

2. The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon Continue reading “Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Books We Really Liked But Can’t Remember Much About”

Since the last currently reading post, I’ve managed to finish three books an get halfway through a fourth. I finished our bookclub pick of Happiness for Humans by P.Z. Reizin which I enjoyed but didn’t love; I completed Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia which I LOVED so so so so much; and I got through A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro which was completely different to what I thought it would be and not really my cup of tea. Tanaya and I already did a blog post on our 2018 reading resolutions! Take a look over here. But I also thought we could take a little look at how we have been doing in regards to these resolutions over the past two weeks!

Tanaya is definitely doing better than I am. Continue reading “Top Ten Tuesday – Bookish Resolutions/Goals”

What We’re Currently Reading

Tanaya

After reading a book a day for most of last week, I’m a little sad that my reading pace has slowed down in this second week of January. I’m currently reading a January release called Happiness for Humans by P.Z. Reizin. It’s a romcom kind of book about two AIs who are meddling in the love lives of two humans. I’ts cute, it’s funny, it’s a light and easy read, and I have about half the book to go. The reason I am reading this is for the bookclub that Emily and I are in, meaning that I have to have it finished before we meet to discuss the book tomorrow.
